Welcome to Park Parade Surgery

Important: Update regarding routine appointments

Dear patients

We are writing to explain why you may experience a longer wait for routine appointments in the coming months. We are gradually implementing the British Medical Association (BMA) and the European Union of General Practitioners recommended safe limit on the number of patients our GP's see per day.

Please read the statement in full by visiting our News section.

Important: Announcement - Update on Merger

Partners from Park Parade and East Parade GP surgeries announced in March that both practices are going to merge and in May we let you know that the new practice will be called Strayside Health.

We initially stated October would be the date for the merger.

However, the background work we’ve done so far has identified we need to move the merger date to April 2025.

We want to ensure that our merger is streamlined so that our patients and staff are confident that the new practice’s systems and processes are robust and that the transition is as smooth as possible. In order to do that, we need to refine our current systems to get the new practice set up in the right way.

Some excellent work is already underway, and we are continuing our merger preparation work with our GPs and other staff teams.

We’re really grateful for the input, enthusiasm and positivity of our staff and patients so far, and we want to continue to harness that as we go forward. We’ll keep you updated regularly on our Facebook pages and practice websites.

Our current patients don’t need to do anything, and all patients will transfer to Strayside Health when the merger happens. We hope patients will wish to remain registered with our new practice, but if you wish to change, you should explore your choices based on your address and the catchment areas of the local practices.

We are really looking forward to working together as our new practice – Strayside Health.

Planned merger between Park Parade Surgery and East Parade Surgery

The Partners of Park Parade Surgery and East Parade Surgery would like to inform you of the planned merger between the two surgeries.

As you may be aware, the two surgeries already work on the same floor of Mowbray Square Medical Centre in Harrogate. We work closely together and share several teams and services. The Partners believe that creating a single, larger practice will allow us to pool the skills of our wonderful team members to create a truly sustainable organisation that is equipped to survive and thrive in the NHS of the future.

Please read the full statement and contact us if you have any questions.

Important Notice for Patients - Appointment Booking Procedure

We are aware that our phone lines are extremely busy and waiting to get through can be frustrating. We have also taken on board feedback from our patients, and many tell us how they appreciate being able to communicate with us using online platforms, at a time that is convenient to them. To reduce demand on the telephone system, from January 2022 we ask that all patients requiring an appointment complete an eConsult Consult Online from Home - Park Parade Surgery (webgp.com). The information provided (which is confidential and comprehensive) will be reviewed by a clinician within 48 hours. There will be a range of possible outcomes

  • You will be sent a link to make a GP appointment at a time convenient for you
  • We will arrange necessary tests/investigations prior to your appointment to maximise the value of your appointment
  • We can arrange an appointment with one of our allied health professionals, such as our Nursing Team, Clinical Pharmacists, Social Prescribers, Health and Wellbeing Coach, Musculoskeletal practitioners and Mental Health Practitioner

You can also complete eConsults for medication and administrative queries such as referrals and medical notes. These will be directed to the appropriate team.

Please be reassured that those with problems requiring a more urgent response will either be flagged red by eConsult or you will be advised to contact Park Parade Surgery by telephone.

We hope these changes are beneficial and convenient for our patients. Please be reassured we are constantly reviewing and amending the system.

We thank you for your patience and understanding.

Queries to the practice

We are no longer accepting enquiries by email and instead ask that you contact us:

  • using the e-consult tool (as above)
  • using the NHS App
  • by phone only if you are not able to do any of the above

About Us

Our practice team consists of 6 GPs, musculoskeletal practitioners, a shared team (within the medical centre) of practice nurses and healthcare assistants, community midwives, counsellors and the District Nursing and Health Visitor teams.
